Dental Implants - by Specialist Prosthodontist Firas Daoudi

Dental implants are a common solution for tooth loss. Teeth can be lost for all manner of reasons; decay and gum disease can cause teeth to fall out or need to be extracted, while injuries and accidents can also lead to tooth loss.
Whatever the reason, losing one or more teeth can cause patients to feel self-conscious and unwilling to smile in public. Tooth loss can also cause further dental problems, as any remaining teeth may move over time to fill in the gap, while the bone that supported the tooth will gradually start to deteriorate, causing a sunken look to the face. Of course, there will also be additional strain from biting and chewing placed on your remaining teeth.
Dental implants are an excellent solution for most cases of missing teeth because not only do they provide you with a highly realistic looking (and acting) artificial tooth, they also integrate with the jaw bone to prevent deterioration.
At Park Road, Dr Firas Daoudi is our dental implants expert, who has successfully treated many patients with missing teeth. We believe that this non-invasive treatment is the best option for tooth loss.
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is placed directly into the jaw bone to provide sturdy support for a crown, denture or bridge. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and is virtually painless. The implant is precisely placed in the bone and acts like the natural root of a tooth, which helps prevent bone loss as the jaw bone will grow around it.
In many cases the implant can be placed at the same time as a tooth is removed, meaning you won’t be left with any gaps in your mouth. After establishing immediate close contact with the surrounding bone, stability is created and will continue to develop over time. With the implant in place, replacement crowns, bridges or dentures can then be securely attached to the top.
